The AAMI SA U18 Girls Team extended its winning streak to three after eclipsing Victoria Metro by 20 points in Game 3 of the Marsh AFL U18 National Championships at Alberton Oval.
Full of confidence after a statement-making 52-point opening win against Western Australia and a hard-fought win against the Allies, the Croweaters were forced to respond to their arch-rival after a scoreless second term.
As a result, Brad Snell’s charges trailed by a goal at half-time before breaking the game open with a dominant third quarter which yielded 5.0 to the Biv V’s 1.0.
Leading by 17 points at three-quarter time, the hosts were able to continue controlling the tempo by keeping Vic Metro to just four behinds in the final quarter.
AAMI SA U18 forwards Ruby Lynch and Madeline Nuss enjoyed a productive afternoon by kicking two goals each as seven Croweaters landed on the goal kicking list.
The Croweaters got plenty of drive out of the midfield from Lucy Moore (19 disposals, 11 tackles, 1 goal) and Lani Cocks (27 disposals, five tackles, one goal) while Olivia Leslie again stood tall in defence.
Hard-running pair Emily Mableson (25 disposals) and Maia Freemantle (19 disposals, one goal) were also instrumental in constructing the win.
The Croweaters will now begin preparing for their fourth and final match of the Championships, as they aim for an undefeated campaign by toppling Queensland in Melbourne on Saturday, July 11.
