Glenelg brought Woodville-West Torrens’ unbeaten run to a grinding halt with an impressive 23-point win at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
Determined to honour triple premiership defender Jonty Scharenberg in his 150th game, the Tigers did so after making their move with a slick second term which yielded 5.1 to the Eagles’ 1.0.
The hosts lost star Jack Hayes under the concussion protocol midway during the Bays’ second term blitz which seriously dented their chances but the visitors also displayed great efficiency in building a four-goal advantage at the main change.
The Eagles surged to get within three goals late in the third and fourth terms but Matthew Clarke’s men had all the answers as they joined the ladder-leaders with a 5-1 win-loss record.
The Tigers preference to use the ball by foot proved pivotal as they racked up 23 more kicks and seven more inside 50 entries.
Dual premiership midfielders Corey Lyons (25 disposals, two goals) and Matt Allen (26 disposals, one goal) were instrumental in the victory, with the former being adjudged the Hostplus Super Player of the Day.
Scharenberg was poised in his milestone match with 23 disposals and six marks at half-back while Archie Lovelock played one of the best games of his young career, his clean hands a feature in tallying 22 disposals and a nice soccer goal.
Lachie Hosie kicked 2.3 from his 17 touches for the Tigers while debutant Charlie Robinson-Cay impressed with a pair of majors as he showed off his speed.

Sturt sprang to life for the first time in 2026 with a blistering nine-goal second-term rampage setting up a timely 48-point win against Adelaide at Thomas Farms Oval.
Battling a hefty injury list and significant change in personnel, the Double Blues sent an ominous warning to the rest of the competition by piling on 9.1 to 1.4 in the second stanza.
It transformed a concerning 16-point deficit at quarter-time into a healthy 29-point advantage by half-time to put the Crows on the back foot.
Marty Mattner’s men were able to control the contest from there as they extended their lead to as much as 61 points while racking up a commanding 56-38 inside 50 count for the afternoon.
Magarey Medallist Will Snelling was back to his best with 40 disposals, 15 clearances and 12 tackles as he made a statement for the Double Blues.

Captain Tom Lewis had 21 touches, six clearances and eight tackles while ruck Amos Doyle tallied 20 disposals, 33 hit outs and a goal as Sam Conforti booted four goals for the hosts.
Conforti was among 11 goal kickers for Sturt as Josh Hone booted three and Charlie Parker and Oli Grivell two each.
Fielding a side with experienced AFL pair Darcy Fogarty and Callum Ah Chee, Adelaide outscored Sturt in the final term but it wasn’t enough after labouring through a third term which yielded just two behinds.
Fogarty, playing his first SANFL match since Round 6 2022, booted three goals from his nine disposals and four marks while Ah Chee had 15 disposals and a goal coming back from a hamstring injury.
Billy Dowling led the way on the stats sheet for the Crows with 28 disposals while Lachlan Sholl had 24.

Port Adelaide overcame a late scare from a persistent Central District to hold on for a gritty five-point win at Alberton Oval.
Leading for the majority of the contest and for almost the entire second half, the Magpies showed plenty of determination to claim the premiership points with just one fit player on the bench.
The Bulldogs, who hadn’t led since time-on of the first term, hit the front in the 24th minute of the last term when classy Anzac Lochowiak calmly kicked a checkside set shot from the boundary.
But the visitors’ celebrations ended up being short-lived as Todd Marshall, making a rare appearance in the Hostplus SANFL League, made his presence felt on the outcome.
Port’s development player Dakota Sterzl sent a long ball deep inside 50m for Marshall to mark and convert his 20m set shot to restore the lead nearing the 28-minute mark.
The hosts did enough to hold for their second win of the season whilst ensuring the Dogs would still be searching for their opening victory after six rounds.
Emerging Magpie Tom Cochrane should have Port fans excited after he left an impression with five goals from his 16 disposals, five marks and four tackles.
Speedy Port goalsneak Tom Anastasopolous was also dangerous throughout the contest with three goals from his 22 touches while captain Jez McLennan was rock solid with 24 disposals and nine marks.

Extending their sizeable advantage at every change, the Redlegs did as they pleased in the heart of their regional zone whilst kicking a damaging haul of 21.8 (134) for the match.
Twin tower forwards Josh Murphy (five goals) and Tristan Binder (four goals) enjoyed their day at the office while Jayden Gale also slammed through four majors.
The Legs dominated possessions for the afternoon while also posting sizeable advantages in the inside 50s (55-41) and marks (115-52).

Norwood defenders Aaron Francis (32 disposals, nine marks) and Pierce Seymour (30 disposals, 12 marks) not only repelled multiple Bloods forays but also provided great rebound.
Seymour also took an eye-catching grab on the outer wing early in the second term in the clip below.
Without star midfielder Kobe Ryan (shoulder), the Bloods had Brady Searle work hard for a match high 34 disposals and a goal while Tom Morrish (24 disposals) and Jesse Thackeray (23 disposals) battled hard.
North Adelaide responded in the best way possible with a hard-fought 22-point win against South Adelaide at Magain Stadium.
Coming off a sluggish loss to Woodville-West Torrens in Round 5, the Roosters displayed their intent from the outset to lead at every change before taking a stranglehold on proceedings in the third term.
Dominating possession and the air with a 107-58 marks count, the visitors slammed on 6.3 to 4.0 to open up a three goal lead by the final change.
North then extended its lead in the final quarter to secure a vital victory in the context of its season as it moved up to sixth spot and joined the Panthers with a 3-3 win-loss record.
