Archie Lovelock will be pushing for midfield opportunities in the trial matches.
Joel Thiele still looks down at his feet and expects to see Double Blue shorts and socks.
A newly-inducted Life Member of the Sturt Football Club, the 27-year-old admits he didn’t expect to be wearing black and gold this time last year.
But after only managing one Hostplus SANFL League game at Unley in 2025 due to the Blues’ supreme depth, Thiele was eager for a fresh start.
And he’s certainly relishing his new environment at Tigerland, where he will certainly be leaned upon as an experienced head inside the centre square.
Featuring in 83 League games since 2017, the 184cm midfielder will assist in helping to replace the likes of Jarryd Lyons and James Bell who have departed in the off-season.
And while he is still coming to grips with his new colours, Thiele insists that he will know where the away changerooms are when the Bays confront the Double Blues at Thomas Farms Oval on Anzac Day.
Opportunity at Hostplus SANFL League level awaits Remi Brown in 2026 after posting a solid debut season in the Reserves last year.
A consistent member of Glenelg’s Reserves premiership team, the 19-year-old averaged 14 disposals, seven tackles and three marks as a big-bodied midfielder inside the centre square.
The 185cm Kybybolite product has now added another 5kg to his already sizeable frame, putting himself in a strong position to make his League debut this season.
The teenager doesn’t look out of place in midfield drills at training as he puts his best foot forward for an early League debut.
”Young Remi Brown has shown some very promising attributes,” new teammate Joel Thiele said.
Strong-bodied midfielder Remi Brown has impressed during preseason training.
SA U18 coach Tony Bamford profiles the Tigers’ players in 2026
Harry Franz
Harry is in his third year in the SANFL State pathway programs having been involved at U16 state level and a bottom-age player in our U18 state academy last year. He has played primarily as a key defender at SANFL level while also getting some exposure as a key forward at college level last year. In this program, he trained in both areas (back and forward) and was able to show positive signs in both areas of the ground. We have challenged him to keep developing his field kicking skills to ensure his decision making and execution are at a high level.
Gabe Patterson
Gabe is in his second year in the SANFL State pathway having completed 2025 as a bottom-age player in our State U18 program. He is also in the AFL National Academy program and plays primarily as a medium-sized forward who is very dangerous in the air and at ground level close to goal. Gabe has got to his current level of performance based on his above average talent level. He has been challenged and supported to improve his consistency at training to maximise his potential.
Jacob McNicol
Jacob is in his second State pathway program having been involved at U16 State level in 2024. He has played as a midfielder and high forward at SANFL level over the past years and has a proven ability to get his hands on the footy. In this program, he has worked hard on his contested ball craft and ground level skills. Jacob is working hard on his decision-making skills when he has the ball, knowing when to keep the footy moving with handball or to use his legs to carry the ball.
Harvey Croker
Harvey is in his second State pathway program having been involved at U16 State level in 2024. He is a regional player from Mount Gambier who has had modified time in our program before Christmas but has now relocated to Adelaide to complete his schooling and U18 season. Harvey has played primarily on the wing at SANFL state and club level. His current strength is in his decision making and running power on the open side of the oval. Harvey now needs to continue to work on his disposal under pressure in general play.
Jobe Janeway
Big Jobe is in the SANFL State pathway for the first time after shifting his primary sporting focus from motorcross to football at the start of 2025. He is a regional player from Mount Gambier who works full time and has had modified time in our program. Jobe is a 206cm developing tall athlete who has above average coordination and skill level for his size. He has been introduced to ruck & aerial craft training for the first time in this program and has plenty of learning ahead of him.
