North Adelaide Football Club will hold a major fundraising day at its Round 17 home match against Glenelg this weekend in support of senior player Sam Ramsay.

Sam has been sidelined since late May with what started as back pain. However, after testing and imaging he was diagnosed as having Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer that disproportionately affects young men.

The 24-year-old Sam is currently undergoing extensive radiation treatment and may require surgery as part of his fight against this illness.

Despite the challenges, Sam remains a highly valued and respected member of the North Adelaide playing group.

The clubs says his commitment to staying connected has been unwavering, including a recent trip to Port Pirie to support the team in our match against his former club, South Adelaide.

In a show of solidarity, the playing group donated a portion of their match payments from the Round 13 game in Port Pirie to help support Sam financially. These funds will assist with the significant medical expenses and the impact of his inability to work during treatment.

On Saturday the club will hold fundraising activities at its match day to further support Sam in his battle. This includes players seeking donations from supporters around the ground during the Reserves and League matches, and around 20 North Adelaide players shaving their heads after the game in the club’s Pavilion to create awareness and raise funds for Sam.

A Go Fund Me page also has been set up for anyone wishing to support Sam’s extensive treatment. Visit link here
