Seven goals in succession provided Central District with the ideal platform to construct its 56-point win against West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.
Jumped early by the Bloods, who booted two of the first three majors, the Bulldogs then went to work by producing an emphatic response to lead by a commanding 39 points at half-time.
Suddenly leading the inside 50s by 31-9, Paul Thomas’ men looked every bit a premiership contender as they also controlled the clearances 43-31 across the course of the afternoon.
Westies saved face in the third quarter by kicking 5.4 but the damage had well and truly been done as the Dogs surged to a 5-1 win-loss record to start the season.
The Doggies again showed off their potency by slamming through an accurate 18.9 (117) with strongly-built Beau Thomas banging through a match high five majors, while Jake Gasper, Aiden Grace, Nick Lange and Anzac Lochowiak all looked lively in kicking two each.
Central’s midfielders thrived through the corridor as Magarey Medallist Harry Grant racked up 24 disposals and five clearances while Mani Liddy continued his sensational start to the year with 22 touches and seven clearances.
Kade Dittmar was influential for the visitors with 21 disposals, 10 tackles, six clearances and a goal while ruck recruit Kobe Annand got things moving in the middle with 39 hit outs, eight clearances and 15 disposals for the Dogs.
Without co-captain Sam Frost through injury amongst a host of others, the Bloods had Kobe Ryan battling hard for 24 disposals and seven clearances while Tom Morrish (20 disposals) and Brady Searle (17 disposals) made successful returns.
Tall forward Tom Scully booted three goals for the Bloods while Tasmanian recruit Harvey Griffiths kicked two in his second game.

Adelaide’s supreme efficiency with ball in hand was a major factor behind its comfortable 45-point win against Port Adelaide in the SANFL Showdown at Adelaide Oval.
Now leading the overall win-loss count 12-10 in the clashes between the cross-town rivals, the Crows used the ball in clinical fashion as they led at every change to bank a 5-1 win-loss record.
Earning their fourth win in succession against the Magpies, Matt Wright’s charges only had two more inside 50s but made every touch count as the Pies were left to rue missed opportunities in booting 5.13 (43) for the contest.
As many as nine Crows hit the scoreboard for Adelaide with Chris Burgess causing plenty of headaches for Port coach Hamish Hartlett kicking three goals while Blake Drury and Luke Pedlar booted two each.
Crows veteran Brodie Smith racked up 30 disposals while Lachie Sholl distributed nicely with 29 and 11 marks.
Young guns Billy Dowling (28 disposals) and Sid Draper (24 disposals) were also prominent as the latter snapped a classy major in the opening half.
Port favourite Travis Boak, making a rare SANFL appearance, racked up a massive 36 disposals while Rory Atkins and Jack Watkins had 29 each but tellingly, kicked five behinds between them.
