Vale Jeff Potter

SANFL is mourning the passing of inaugural South Australian Football Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Potter.

Awarded SANFL Player Life Membership in 1972, Jeff also earned selection in the Port Adelaide Football Club Hall of Fame and the club’s Greatest Team (1870-2000).

Donning the black and white stripes with distinction from 1959 to 1970, Jeff played in 235 League matches while also kicking 289 goals.

The talented rover’s outstanding career featured four premierships (1959, 1962, 1963, 1965) and four best-and-fairests (1961, 1964, 1967, 1969) while also acting as the club’s vice-captain in 1968.

Jeff’s passion for State football was unwavering in wearing the cherished red South Australian guernsey on 23 occasions.

Off the field, Jeff’s commitment to the Magpies was equally admirable while serving as a League selector and Reserves coach whilst also servicing the club’s licenced venue.

SANFL extends its deepest sympathy to the Potter family as it honours Jeff’s outstanding service to the game in South Australia.
