Mitch Harvey wins 2024 Ken Farmer Medal

North Adelaide’s Mitch Harvey has become the first Rooster in 22 years to win the Ken Farmer Medal as SANFL’s leading goal kicker at the end of the minor round.

Booting three goals against West Adelaide in Round 19, Harvey finished with a tally of 45 majors, three ahead of Central District’s Aiden Grace, who kicked four against Port Adelaide.

The 29-year-old, who has kicked 222 goals from 196 Hostplus SANFL League games, joins fellow Roosters Daniel Hargraves (2002) and John Roberts (1987) as the only players from Prospect to claim the coveted individual award.

A master at nailing his set shots, Harvey kicked an accurate 45.19 in his 18 appearances in 2024.

Glenelg’s Liam McBean kicked five majors against South Adelaide to place third with a haul of 38 goals.

Fellow Tiger Luke Reynolds was equal fourth on 32 goals, together with Connor Ballenden (Eagles) and Connor McFadyen (Sturt).

Introduced in 1981, the Ken Farmer Medal is named in honour of North Adelaide’s legendary goal kicking champion Ken Farmer.

Farmer played 13 seasons with North from 1929 – 1941 and kicked 1417 League goals, a record that still stands today.

In 11 consecutive seasons, Farmer broke the 100 goal milestone and was the league leading goalkicker in each.
