South Adelaide jumped into second place on the SANFL U16 ladder following an impressive nine-point victory over North Adelaide at Prospect Oval.

The home side got the better of the first term, but three second-quarter goals to Panthers forward Kody Shortridge ensured South headed into the half-time break with a 10-point lead.

Having gained an ascendancy in the midfield, the Panthers extended their lead in the third and held on to record an important victory over a fellow finals contender.

Shortridge proved the match-winner and finished with five-straight goals, while teammate Mitch Clifton dominated the ruck battle, accumulating 34 hit-outs, 25 disposals and nine clearances.

North’s Finn Wundenberg provided consistent rebound and Mason Wareing booted three goals in attack.

West Adelaide upset Central District by 19 points in a low-scoring affair at Hisense Stadium.

Both sides struggled to impact the scoreboard early on, the Bloods leading by less than a kick at each break before taking their chances in the last quarter to seal the victory.

Laurence Andriani finished with a game-high 30 disposals for West and teammate Jeremy Moss booted three goals.

Central midfielder Angus Pringle gathered 24 disposals and five clearances and ruckman Callan Semmler managed 27 hit outs and a goal.

Glenelg survived a first-half scare to defeat a spirited Norwood by 25 points at Stratarama Stadium.

Having notched their first win of the season last round, Norwood played with increased confidence and belief to take a five-point lead into half-time.

However, the Bays regained the lead early in the third term and overpowered a Redlegs outfit which certainly didn’t lack endeavour.

Tiger Jimmy Hele (33 disposals and 10 clearances) had the ball on a string and teammate Hudson Earl kicked three goals, while the strong form of Norwood’s James Annese (25 disposals) continued.

Woodville-West Torrens proved no match for high-flying Sturt with the Double Blues running out 77-point victors at Thomas Farms Oval.

A commanding six-goal second quarter ensured the Double Blues would extend their winning streak to seven matches.

Naite Slade (28 disposals and a goal) and Evan Davies (25 disposals and seven marks) found plenty of the ball and Ivan Wilkinson (four goals) capitalised on the hard work of the Double Blues midfield brigade.

Eagle Tate Wolthers gathered 26 disposals and laid six tackles and teammate Zachary Holdsworth was his side’s only multiple goal kicker with two.
