Brady Opens Dawe to SANFL 200 Club

There’s not much Norwood’s Brady Dawe hasn’t achieved in the Statewide Super League and now he’s set to join the illustrious SANFL 200 Club.

And the 30-year-old refuses to forget where it all began for him – at his home town Meadows Football Club.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the Redlegs’ bigman credited the two seasons of senior football with the Hills Football League club as playing a major role in him stepping into SANFL League action in 2009.

Returning to Meadows after a stint with Sturt’s underage teams, Dawe was spotted by Redlegs premiership star Brett James while playing against James’ Kerbrook team in 2008.

Within six months, Dawe was making his Statewide Super League debut in Round 2 of 2009 against Sturt at The Parade.

Since then, the reliable left-footer has played in three premierships with the Redlegs, the third in 2014 against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval holding a special place in Dawe’s heart.

Against Norwood’s arch-enemy the Magpies at the redeveloped Oval, the contest was a memorable one as Dawe’s team clung on for a dramatic four-point victory.

The final siren sounded as Norwood’s No.30 was set to fly for an aerial contest inside Port’s attacking 50m arc, leaving Dawe to embrace current captain Jace Bode to start the celebrations.

Dawe and Bode are the only remaining triple premiership players from the remarkable run of success, both driven by the lure of playing in a fourth after last year’s heart-breaking loss to North Adelaide in the title-decider.

And that quest continues against South Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium on Monday, Dawe’s 200th Statewide Super League match at a venue just down the hill from where his career ignited.
