Few in SANFL circles would have heard of the name Cody Raak.

But if you ask those in the know at Prospect, it won’t be long for him to establish his presence in the Hostplus SANFL League.

The 21-year-old has spend the past two years on the Western Bulldogs list refining his craft as an intercept defender, a role which has coach Jacob Surjan excited.

Measuring in at 194cm, Raak is a close mate of the Roosters’ 2018 premiership ruckman Jordon Sweet, who played a major role in securing his services.

The surname is familar at Prospect but Luke Harvey plays in a very different manner to his older brother Mitch.

Unlike his premiership sibling who is used to carrying the ruck, Luke Harvey is more adept at providing run and carry off half-back.

A member of last year’s SA U18 squad, the 18-year-old pushed up to play two Reserves matches in 2023 so will no doubt be eyeing off his Hostplus SANFL League debut in 2024.

Evan Bradley
Evan is an impact player with high-end speed and X-factor. He is likely to play as a small forward type but would also be able to impact further up the ground with an improved fitness base. He has improved his training standards and consistency of performance over the preseason and has certainly caught the eye of the Academy coaches and his teammates. He is still learning a lot about the game and how to impact when he doesn’t have the ball in his hands. Evan will also need to invest more time and effort into building his size, strength and power while maintaining speed.

Louie Montgomery
Louie is a second year State Academy player and already has experience at AFL U18 National level. We expect him to continue his development path and become an improved player and leader this season. Louie plays as a high defender who can win his contests and also get into good positions to create attack from the back half. He has shown an ability to play in all three zones (forward, midfield, back) and has been given some midfield exposure during the preseason. Louie has been working hard on improving his ball use under pressure and improving his endurance. He will have to balance his footy at college and club this year.

Sam Cumming
Sam is an U17 player who also played in our SA U16s last year. From Mildura and boarding at PAC, he will be balancing his footy at college and club this year. He is a hard-nosed ball winner who also likes to get after the opposition and create forward-half turnovers. Sam has made a strong focus this preseason on learning more about playing high forward roles and improved ball use. Coaches have noticed an improved kicking effectiveness in the past weeks compared to last year.

Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier
Blake is also an U17 player who played in our SA U16s last year. He has been played mostly as an inside midfielder across the past two years with some time as a high forward. Blake is very strong for his age. He needs to learn to turn that size and strength into power if he is to become an elite ball-winner in the next two years. Blake has made a focus to improve his defensive transition in games along with using his bigger body to his advantage at stoppage situations.
