A late goal kicked by Aaron Young enabled North Adelaide to celebrate its 100-year anniversary at Prospect Oval with a pulsating two-point win against Glenelg.

His team trailing by four points deep into time-on of the final term, Young earned a free kick just 15m out on a slight angle.

The former Power forward was able to calmly wind the clock down before playing on to snap truly in the 26th minute, restoring the lead for the Roosters in what proved to be a see-sawing contest.

The Tigers – who led by as much as 27 points in the second term – appeared to be creeping their way toward victory when dangerous forwards Liam McBean (five goals) and Hugh Stagg (four goals) kicked consecutive majors midway through the last quarter.

But a poster kicked by Glenelg’s Cole Gerloff in the 14th would be his team’s final score of the match as the hosts stormed home much to the delight of the red-and-white faithful.

North’s Harrison Wigg was welcomed back into the side after missing Round 5, registering a staggering 29 disposals in the opening half before finishing with 44 to go with nine marks and eight clearances.

Young was equally impactful with 25 disposals and three goals, including his match-winner, while Magarey Medallist Campbell Combe had 29 disposals, eight tackles and seven clearances.

Sharp-shooting North spearhead Keenan Ramsey made the most of his chances to boot five goals without a miss to go with seven marks and 15 disposals while Mitch Harvey had an influence in the ruck with 19 possessions and seven clearances.

Glenelg’s Matthew Snook worked tirelessly in the clinches to tally 23 disposals, six clearances and five tackles while Darcy Bailey had 24 touches in his now customary role across half-back.

Forwards McBean (13 disposals, six marks, five goals) and Stagg (12 disposals, four goals) were excellent for the visitors while Toby Pink regularly stood tall in defence to finish with 15 disposals and eight marks.

Sturt celebrated the 20-year anniversary of its 2002 premiership in fine style with a scintillating 98-point win against Central District at Wigan Oval.

The Double Blues conceded the first two goals of the contest inside the opening three minutes but from there, they were in demolition mode while kicking 20 of the next 23 goals for the afternoon.

Establishing a 26-point lead by the first change, the hosts had stretched this to a commanding 46 by halftime while holding the visitors goalless during the second stanza.

The advantage opened up to 72 points when Sturt ruckman Daniel Fahey-Sparks booted his second before Bulldog Jordan Dorizzi pounced for his first League goal 21 minutes into the third term.

The Double Blues then went about ensuring the heroes of 2002 would enjoy the final term from the outer side at Unley, where they had hung the 2002 premiership flag while also posting the Grand Final score on the old scoreboard.

Sturt captain James Battersby was brilliant through the middle with 31 disposals, seven marks and six clearances while Tom Lewis (25 disposals, seven clearances) was also influential.

Premiership defender Guy Page played an outstanding game with 28 disposals, 11 marks and just his 13th League goal in his 158th game, which proved to be a beauty on the run from outside 50m.

Strong forward Abe Davis made it 10 goals in two games with his haul of four majors to shadow crafty goalsneaks Josh Hone and James Richards with three each while Casey Voss helped himself to two on the run with his 24 disposals.

Experienced Central trio Jarrod Schiller (26 disposals, two goals), Kyle Presbury (23 disposals) and Travis Schiller (21 disposals) fought on but had little assistance as the Bulldogs endured a day to forget.
