2019 Central Women’s League Preview

It’s been more than 12 months in the making but Central District Women’s coach Shaun Ribbons can finally see the finish line in reaching Round 1 of the Statewide Super Women’s League on Friday February 15.

One of two new teams being introduced for Season 2019, the Bulldogs will tackle West Adelaide at City Mazda Stadium from 7.45pm in their history-making debut.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Ribbons revealed he has spent countless hours watching local games and vision of promising players in order to finalise Central’s inaugural list.

Central has won both of its trial matches – against Woodville-West Torrens and North Adelaide – in an encouraging sign before the minor round begins.

Several recruits have been signed from rival SANFLW clubs such as the Sonneman sisters, Jayme-Lee and Demi, Shannen Solly and Hannah Pavlovich.

Originally allocated to North Adelaide in the SANFLW, recent Adelaide AFLW draftees Chloe Scheer and Katelyn Rosenzweig have moved into the Bulldogs squad and will be available if not selected by the Crows for AFLW matches.

Ribbons indicated Rosenzweig – who won last year’s SANFLW Leading Goal Kicker Award – was likely to remain in attack if she plays for Central after initially impressing at centre half-back in the inaugural season of the Statewide Super Women’s League.
