Jess Good may be new to footy but she’s expected to shine in the ruck in her debut season after making the transition from basketball. The former Adelaide Lightning and Norwood forward, measuring in at 185cm, doesn’t mind getting involved in the hunt for a contested ball while also boasting a long kick.
Promoted to Sturt’s senior squad during summer, Lily Whitcombe has emerged as a potential starter in defence when Sturt tackles Glenelg in Round 1. From the Blackwood Football Club, Whitcombe is described as a natural footballer who reads the play well, ensuring she should slot nicely into a back pocket or across half-back.
Zoe Prowse – Athletic ruck who is one of just two South Aussies selected in the AFLW Academy. Led the competition for hitouts while also doing plenty of damage around the ground to be selected in the SANFLW Team of the Year.
Alex Ballard – Flexible utility who can play at either end of the ground but has been trialled through the midfield this summer. Sister of Gold Coast’s Charlie Ballard is considered Sturt’s Miss Fix It.
Hannah Prenzler – Retained her place in the senior leadership group for 2021 with her mature outlook on the game. Impressive skills while understanding the defensive requirements of the game.
Georgia Swan – Has developed rapidly during summer, chiefly due to her increased aerobic capacity. Has a natural kick and strong overhead mark.
