SANFL is mourning the passing of Player Life Member Jimmy Wright.
A member of West Adelaide’s 1961 premiership team, Jimmy featured in 208 League games from 1952 through to 1962 and in 1964.
The energetic rover booted a total of 360 goals for the Bloods whilst being recognised as the club’s leading goal kicker in 1955, 1958 and and 1959.
Representing South Australia on three occasions, he was awarded SANFL Player Life Membership in 1962 after playing in a club-record six Grand Finals for West across his 12-year career.
Jimmy’s passion for the Bloods was illustrated in him playing a major role in the establishment and management of the club’s Past Player & Officials group in the 1950s, ensuring his involvement at Richmond would extend beyond 65 years.
SANFL extends its deepest sympathy to the Wright family as it honours Jimmy’s outstanding service to the game in South Australia.
