Umpiring in Schools

 

The free 90 minute Foundation Umpires Course – we can come and deliver this in your school. 

 

Courses can be delivered to groups of 15 – 100 students If your school is interested in establishing a course please contact: Matthew Northcott – Umpire Recruitment, Development & Retention Lead – [email protected]. We can be flexible with date and timing of delivery based on availability. Generally, we only require a suitable space with AV facilities to deliver a PowerPoint presentation and some oval / green space – we will organise the rest.

 

Teaching the fundamental skills of becoming an umpire, the Foundation Umpiring Course is an introduction to the umpiring development pathway.

 

What to expect?

The 90 minute course will cover topics such as:

  • Umpiring Pathways
  • Umpire Roles
  • Decision Making
  • Communication
  • Positioning
  • Signals

There will also be  practical components that will cover:

  • Ball-Ups, signalling, & communicating as a Field Umpire
  • Boundary throw-ins
  • Goal Flag waving

 

Upon completion, students will have a base knowledge of umpiring, which will equip them to assist your schools in umpiring games as needed and begin their journey in umpiring club football as desired
