Woodville-West Torrens young gun Imogen Trengove has won the 2025 SANFLW Powerade Breakthrough Player award after pulling together a phenomenal campaign in the Hostplus SANFLW League.
Hailing from Bute on the Yorke Peninsula, the versatile utility was a huge contributing factor towards the Eagles’ soaring season, which saw them finish minor premier and play finals for the first time since they joined the competition in 2019.
Nominated for her eye-catching Round 3 performance against Central District, where she tallied 20 disposals and kicked three goals playing on the half-forward flank, Trengove displayed her ability to not only win the ball but have an impact on the scoreboard.
The captain of the South Australian Girls U18 team, Trengove played 11 of a possible 14 matches for the Eagles SANFLW side, averaging 17.2 disposals, 5.4 tackles, 4.5 inside 50s and kicking 10 goals in her breakout season.
Trengove is the second Woodville-West Torrens’ player to win the SANFLW Powerade Breakthough Player award after Shineah Goody won the award in 2022.
The Eagles’ talent was awarded with a $1,000 cash prize and trophy, courtesy of Powerade.
Woodville-West Torrens led the way for nominations in 2025, with five players featuring on the list of contenders, with South Adelaide having three.
Maia Freemantle (Round 9), Lucy Moore (Round 11), Ruby Lynch (Round 12) and Julia Faulkner (Round 14) were the other Eagles to be nominated.
To be eligible for the SANFLW Powerade Breakthrough Player Award, players must be aged 21 and under at the start of the year.
