More than 2,600 participants will have an opportunity to develop skills and rub shoulders with AFL and SANFL stars in a series of free clinics during Gather Round…A Festival of Footy.

Following the highly successful and largest rollout of footy clinics ever undertaken in SA during Gather Round last year, participants aged between five and 12 years can once again register to participate in clinics to be held at every SANFL Club venue between Wednesday April 3 and Monday April 8.

Clinics will include fun activities to develop skills, mini-games, meet and greet sessions with AFL players and autograph signings.

SANFL Executive General Manager – Football Matt Duldig said the clinics offered young players another great opportunity to have fun developing valuable skills and be inspired by their favourite AFL stars.

“On the back of the huge success of last year’s clinics, we are thrilled to once again be giving boys and girls from across the State such an awesome opportunity to learn and interact with some of their favourite players from the AFL and Hostplus SANFL League,” Duldig said.

“We expect Gather Round to be even bigger and better in 2024 and there is a real air of excitement building among the footy community.”

AFL Executive General Manager of Game Development Rob Auld said the clinics were an important part of Gather Round festivities in South Australia.

“We’re delighted to work alongside the SANFL and our AFL clubs to provide this free experience for thousands of children around the state,” Auld said.

“Connecting with local communities at the grassroots level helps build the foundation of Australian footy – for children to meet their heroes and have a kick with them, they’re moments that stay with kids forever and instils a love of our game.

“As we strive to have footy in every home across the country, it’s initiatives like these during Gather Round that leaves a legacy to help grow Australian footy so everyone can share in its future possibilities.”
