Six SANFL players have been selected in the 2025 AFL Mid-Season Draft, with Glenelg talls Harry Ramm and Oscar Adams the first to be offered a chance at elite level on Wednesday night.

Norwood goalsneak Jacob Newton (West Coast), North Adelaide speedster Ewan Mackinlay (Port Adelaide), South Adelaide key forward Noah Howes (Collingwood) and Central District midfielder Mani Liddy (Port Adelaide) were the other SANFL selections.

Missing out on selection in the AFL Draft last year, Ramm has impressed since making his Hostplus SANFL League debut in Round 2, stringing together the last six games in succession playing chiefly as a key defender.

But the 202cm 18-year-old can also be thrown into the ruck, where he also acts another midfielder such is his mobility when the ball hits the ground.

After Ramm was snared by the Power with pick No.3, Adams was the next Bays player to be snapped up, by the Gold Coast with pick No.7.

A key pillar in the Tigers’ 2024 premiership, the 21-year-old will get his second opportunity at AFL level having previously been on St Kilda’s list in 2022 and 2023.

Linked heavily to Carlton in the lead up to the AFL Mid-Season Draft, Norwood’s Jacob Newton instead will make the trek across the Nullarbor after having his name called by West Coast at pick No.9.

The boy from Elliston has thrived with the Redlegs at senior level this season, booting seven goals from his four outings, including two hauls of three in Round 5 and 6.

A member of the West End State squad for the first time in 2025, Mackinlay will add plenty of dash to the Power’s line-up after being taken at pick No.11.

The 21-year-old is averaging 17 disposals and four inside 50s with the Roosters this season whilst also displaying his penchant for run-and-carry footy.

South’s strong-marking Howes made his way to the Magpies at pick No.15, where he has the promise to make his presence felt inside the attacking 50m arc.

The 19-year-old, who measures in at 196cm, is averaging 11 disposals and five marks this season while also kicking a total of 12 goals.

SANFL’s final selection of the night was Central ball magnet Liddy, who was sent to Alberton at pick No.16.

Earning the Fos Williams Medal as best afield for the West End State team against the WAFL this month, Liddy has been averaging 22 disposals and five clearances while also hitting the scoreboard for the Dogs.

Five SANFL players were selected in the 2019 AFL Mid-Season draft, four were chosen in 2021, six in 2022, two in 2023 and four in 2024.

SANFL clubs are provided with $10,000 compensation for each player selected.
