Emerging Sturt midfielder Izzy Kuiper has earned the Round 3 SANFLW Powerade Breakthrough Player nomination after playing a significant role in the Double Blues’ first win of the season.

A member of the Statewide Super SA U18 Girls Academy, Kuiper proved she is gaining more confidence at senior level after collecting 18 disposals, five marks, six tackles and four clearances against the Eagles on Saturday.

Recruited from the Mount Lofty Football Club, the 18-year-old played just four Statewide Super Women’s League matches last season before featuring in all three for the Double Blues in 2020.

Kuiper now joins Norwood’s Mattea Breed (Round 2) and North’s Hannah Ewings (Round 1) as the SANFLW Powerade Breakthrough Player nominees this season.

To be eligible for the SANFLW Powerade Breakthrough Player Award, players must be aged 21 and under at the start of the year and have played six games or less at the start of the season.
