Female SANFL Juniors players are set to enjoy a memorable opportunity to emulate their heroes when they play a series of curtain-raisers on Hostplus SANFLW League Grand Final day at Stratarama Stadium.
In an exciting integration between SANFL Juniors and the Hostplus SANFLW League competition, six Under-8 teams and two Under-18 sides will have their chance to shine at Glenelg ahead of the title-deciding clash between Woodville-West Torrens and South Adelaide at 2.15pm this Sunday.
”This provides an amazing opportunity for our SANFL Juniors participants to experience the excitement and vibrant energy of performing in front of large crowds at a SANFLW Grand Final,” SANFL Juniors Competition and Pathways Manager Oliver Graham said.
”It’s a fantastic showcase of the full women’s and girls pathway in action. It’s amazing for our players to be a part of a day that celebrates women’s football and highlights the pathway ahead, with many players on the field having come through the SANFL Juniors system.”
Three Under 8 matches, played on smaller sized fields, will kick off proceedings at 10.30am before Edwardstown and Glenunga clash in an Under-18 Division 1 encounter at 11.45am.
Third-placed Glenunga will be looking to repeat their success in Round 7 with another win against fourth-ranked Edwardstown.
”It’s exciting to represent the club informant of a big crowd – we are hoping to do them proud on the day,” Edwardstown player Mischa Walton said.
This initiative comes in addition to a host of SANFL Juniors players, from a wide variety of clubs, being invited to present the members of the 2025 The Advertiser SANFLW Team of the Year with their trophies at the SANFLW Best and Fairest Awards at Adelaide Oval on Monday night.
