SA U18 team defeated by Victoria Metro

South Australia has succumbed to Victoria Metro by 52 points in its final match of the 2024 Marsh AFL U18 National Championships.

After a spirited first half, the Croweaters were level at quarter time before trailing by two goals at the main change, the hosts ran out of steam to kick 2.2 to the Big V’s 9.4 across the last two terms.

SA midfielders Phoenix Hargrave (21 disposals) and Ben Camporeale (29 disposals, seven marks) led the charge for their side, which had seven goal kickers each booting one major.

Ruckman Alex Dodson continued his consistent carnival after being named in SA’s best for the third match in succession with 13 disposals, 18 hit outs, a goal and three clearances.

Bottom age talent Dyson Sharp registered a team high six clearances along with his 14 disposals for the Croweaters while captain Sid Draper had 20 disposals and four clearances.

SA finishes its tournament with a 1-3 win-loss record after defeating the Allies in Game 1 before losing to Victoria Country, Western Australia and Victoria Metro.
