The SA U18 Girls succumbed to Victoria Metro by four points in Game 1 of the 2025 Marsh AFLW National Championships at RESA Park.

The Croweaters got off to a quick start with Eloise Mackereth slotting the visitors’ first of the day, taking a three-point lead into quarter time.

However, the slight lead was short-lived as Vic Metro atoned for its four behinds kicked in the first quarter, steadying to take the lead partway through the second term.

Despite the disappointing result for SA, numerous players performed strongly in the first of four championship games.

Midfielder Emma Charlton was best on ground for the visitors, notching up a game-high 31 disposals, along with five tackles and 10 clearances.

SA Captain Imogen Trengove was prolific with two goals, 27 disposals and four tackles while forward Lucy Waye was excellent with 24 disposals, seven tackles and six clearances.

Emily Mableson (19 disposals, seven tackles), Miyu Endersby and Tessa Davis were all solid across the back lines, with Vic Metro recording eight more inside 50s than Brad Snell’s charges.

The girls will now turn their attention to Game 2 against Western Australia at Revo Fitness Stadium, Claremont (WA).

All matches in the 2025 Marsh U18 Girls AFL National Championships will be live streamed via the match centre on the AFL website and AFL Live Official App.
