The South Australian U18 Girls team defeated Western Australia by 20 points in its Game 2 of the 2025 Marsh AFLW National Championships at Revo Fitness Stadium on Sunday.

The Croweaters got off to a hot start via Hope Taylor who opened the scoring, but it was WA who led by two points at quarter-time in Perth.

Western Australia’s lead was short lived, as Eloise Mackereth, Chloe Tonkin and Ruby Lynch combined for a three-goal second quarter from the visitors, who went into the main break with a five-point buffer.

The South Australian defence was on lockdown duty in the second half, keeping the Sandgropers to just one goal, as the SA girls continued to power away.

Captain Imogen Trengove and Julia Faulkner continued the scoring for SA in the third quarter, with Monique Bessen and Mackereth adding to the tally in the final quarter, solidifying the Croweaters’ strong performance.

Trengove was best on ground in a dominant display, notching up 26 disposals, nine tackles, four clearances and one goal.

Emma Charlton – sister of Adelaide Crows AFLW player Teah Charlton – continued her excellent form for SA with 17 disposals, 12 tackles and five clearances.

Faulkner (18 disposals, one goal) and Mackereth (two goals) were both important for SA, with Miyu Endersby and Tessa Davies both solid in defence.

The SA U18 girls will now have a month break during the Hostplus SANFLW League Finals Series, before taking on Queensland on Sunday August 3 and Victoria Country on Sunday August 10.

All matches in the 2025 Marsh U18 Girls AFL National Championships will be live streamed via the match centre on the AFL website and AFL Live Official App.
