Accurate goal-kicking and a scintillating third quarter helped Sturt to a 38-point SANFL U16 win over West Adelaide at Thomas Farms Oval.
It was the visiting Bloods who took a slim three-point lead into the half-time break, but Sturt soon clicked into gear, booting nine goals and establishing what would prove to be a match-winning lead.
Taj Garrett was the prime ball-winner for the Double Blues with 27 disposals and a goal, while Ryan Davies (four goals), Carter Gallasch and Elijah O’Keefe (three) were damaging inside-50.
West Adelaide’s Josh Wooldridge accumulated 31 disposals and won a game-high nine clearances for the Bloods.
Central District extended its winning streak to seven games with a 26-point triumph over Glenelg at X Convenience Oval.
After a low-scoring first term, both sides found their flow in the second and Glenelg led by one point by half-time.
After the main break, the home side kicked four goals to one, to swing the game in its favour and ultimately take the premiership points.
It was an even-spread of performances from Central, however Charlie Moss was damaging inside-50 and booted three goals.
Glenelg’s Harvey Croker produced one of the performances of the year, gathering 46 disposals, eight clearances and 10 inside-50s in the loss.
South Adelaide returned to the winners list with a 31-point victory over North Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.
The Panthers led from start-to-finish and stood up when North were able to reduce the margin just after half-time.
Impressive Panthers prospects Archie Van Dyk (29 disposals and nine clearances) and Kodah Edwards (25 disposals and two goals) were terrific, but were well supported by the likes of Angus White, Cain Florance and Hudson Boal.
Zakariah Young was everywhere for the Roosters, finishing with 23 disposals, 12 marks and 10 inside-50s, and Memphis Webb kicked three goals from his 22 disposals.
Woodville-West Torrens recorded an emphatic 89-point victory over Norwood at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
The Redlegs were in the contest for the first half, but weren’t able to match the Eagles after the main break as they kicked away with ease.
Eagle Tate Wolthers managed 33 disposals and three goals in a best-on-ground display, and teammates Riley Miller, Perry Szklarz and Seb Cavallaro all managed more than 20 touches.
Phoenix Hemming flew the flag for Norwood, amassing 37 disposals, nine marks and 10 inside-50s.
