Yartapuulti’s Jed McEntee produced a last-gasp match-winning goal to give his side a pulsating two-point win against North Adelaide at Alberton.
With his team under siege and trailing by four points during time-on of the final quarter, McEntee pounced on a loose ball to snap in traffic from 25m in front.
The Magpies reclaimed the lead they held for the majority of the encounter but still had to cling on for another eight minutes as the Roosters attempted to charge home under caretaker coach Sam Mayes for the first time.
Staggeringly, Yartapuulti had just 35 inside 50m entries to North’s 59 but a monster performance from Jordon Sweet in the ruck helped the hosts control the middle.
Sweet finished with 18 disposals, 42 hit outs, five clearances and two goals as he made a statement for an AFL recall, getting the ball moving for on-ballers Jack Watkins (31 disposals and a goal) and Will Lorenz (26 disposals).
Port skipper Nick Moore tallied 19 disposals and booted his team’s other major against the tide in the fourth quarter while Rome Burgoyne returned successfully from a hamstring strain to have 18 touches.
Sweet, McEntee and Lachie Charleson each booted two goals for the Magpies.
North began to convert their opportunities late in the contest as it piled on 5.3 to 2.0 in the final stanza but were unable to hit the lead at the right time.
Harrison Wigg (27 disposals) and Harrison Magor (23 disposals) were constructive for the Roosters while Angus Schumacher had a strong influence with 23 disposals, seven clearances, eight tackles and two goals.

Sturt sent an early-season warning as it stretched its unbeaten run of wins to seven with a hard-fought 23-point triumph against Kuwarna at Thomas Farms Oval.
Sitting nicely at the top of the Hostplus SANFL League table, the Double Blues continue to fend off the meaningful challenges, this time in the absence of injured captain James Battersby and star midfielder Mitch Crowden, who will miss the rest of the season with ACL surgery.
Leading at every change, Marty Mattner’s men edged ahead in the inside 50 and clearance count while also controlling the tempo of the match with 19 more marks.
Kuwarna got within two points when veteran Brodie Smith converted his strong overhead mark with a simple set shot from 20m in front.
But Sturt ruck Daniel Fahey-Sparks played on with a goal on the line to give his side an eight-point lead at the final change before the hosts took control in the fourth term.
Booting three of the final four goals of the game, the Double Blues were again led by ball magnet Will Snelling who racked up 31 disposals, nine clearances and 14 tackles.

Woodville-West Torrens displayed great poise as it responded to South Adelaide’s strong challenge to record a 35-point victory at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
The Eagles appeared set for a percentage-boosting victory when they surged to a 37-point lead inside 24 minutes with the opening six goals of the game.
But the plucky Panthers showed a glimpse of what they are building at Noarlunga as Jarrad Wright’s young bucks piled on 6.4 to the hosts’ 1.0 in the second stanza to lead by three points at half-time.
This stung the Eagles into action though, as they applied the clamps to the visitors by keeping them scoreless in the third quarter while establishing a 22-point lead at the last change.
South’s Noah Howes kicked the first and last majors of the fourth quarter but the Eagles nailed another four of their own as they made the most of a lop-sided inside 50 count of 48-33.
James Rowe was outstanding for the Eagles with 23 disposals and three goals while Kobe Mutch enjoyed a strong performance against his old side with 25 disposals and five clearances.
Eagles captain Joseph Sinor (21 disposals) and Riley Knight (18 disposals) did their bit in the win as Nick Hayes led the list of 10 goal scorers with three for himself.
South’s Elliot Dunkin racked up a team-high 28 possessions while Jaiden Magor (23 disposals) and Callum McCarty (21 disposals) also found their share of the Sherrin.
Key forward Howes showed promise with three majors while Cody Lowe kicked two goals for the Panthers.

West talls Tom Scully (three goals) and Dylan Bramich (two goals) booted five majors between them.
