South Adelaide produced a an efficient display of wet weather football to outmuscle Glenelg by 22 points at Stratarama Stadium.

The Panthers had been seeking a season-defining win in their 150th celebration campaign and this could be just the tonic to kickstart it after slamming on six second-term goals to swing the contest in their favour and ultimately land their first win at the Bay since Round 9 2020.

After trailing by three points at the first change, the visitors suddenly led by 10 points at half-time as they handled the slippery Sherrin much better than the Tigers.

And if the efficiency with ball in had wasn’t enough of an advantage for Jarrd Wright’s charges, their defensive prowess certainly was as they laid a staggering 35 more tackles than the Bays.

South finished with 17 more inside 50 entries which and it was this extra time in the Panthers’ forward half which helped restrict the hosts to just seven goals for the match.

The Panthers’ small forwards constantly looked far more threatening throughout the afternoon as they thrived on the ball being on the deck, Eamon Wilkinson (three goals) and Jack Delean (two goals) hitting the scoreboard as Corey Grocock proved elusive.

South’s Finn Emile-Brennan was clean with his 25 disposals to be adjudged the Hostplus Super Player of the Day while Harley Sparks (25 disposals), Oliver Davis (20 disposals) and Riley Baldi (19 disposals) also rolled up their sleeves in the midfield.

Long-kicking left-footer Arie Schoenmaker provided plenty of drive from half-back with 22 disposals and six marks while Arlo Draper had 15 disposals and 15 tackles for the visitors.

Tiger Jonty Scharenberg collected a team-high 26 disposals while Luke Partington (22 disposals) and Patty Parnell (21 disposals) also battled hard at ground level.

Glenelg captain Liam McBean booted three goals while Lachie Hosie booted two.

Norwood dominated Central District from the first bounce to secure a comprehensive 49-point victory at X Convenience Oval.

The Redlegs banged on five goals in succession to start the contest in strong fashion, opening up a commanding 31-point lead in the challenging conditions.

Bulldog Ethan East kicked his team’s first goal of the contest in the 20th minute of the second term as they battled to halt the Legs’ dominance across the park.

Jade Sheedy’s men racked up 35 more marks and 111 more disposals en route to a 54-24 inside 50m count whilst leading at every change.

Defensively, they also applied four more tackles while restricting Central to Ethan East’s two majors for the match.

Red hot Nik Rokahr racked up 31 disposals and five clearances for Norwood while Declan Hamilton and Cooper Murley provided plenty of run off half-back for 26 touches each.

Legs defenders Jack Heard, Aaron Francis and Pierce Seymour also set up very well behind the ball to ensure it would be difficult for the hosts to penetrate inside 50m.

Norwood’s Jayden Gale, Matt Harms and Josh Murphy kicked two goals each.

Central, the only winless team in the Hostplus SANFL League, was led on the stats sheet by Queanbeyan-bred duo Josh Fahey (23 disposals) and Harry Grant (21 disposals) while Luca Whitelum was solid with 19 possessions and five tackles.
