Sturt defeated Glenelg by 13 points at Mount Barker’s Summit Sport and Recreation Park in Round 3 of the SANFL U16s.

Despite finishing with 19 less disposals than the Tigers, the Double Blues still managed 29 more inside-50s.

Although inaccurate in front of goal, last year’s premiers were well represented by Taj Garrett (36 disposals, 15 marks and 14 inside-50s) and Carter Gallasch (four goals).

Glenelg on-baller Harrison Webb gathered 24 disposals and a goal and ruckman Finn Spanagel managed 16 disposals and 26 hit-outs.

A trio of late goals helped Norwood defeat North Adelaide by seven points in a nail-biting contest at Port Pirie’s Memorial Oval.

Both teams booted five goals in a high-octane first quarter before the Roosters jumped out to a 21-point lead at half-time.

However, the Redlegs refused to give in and kicked the final three goals of the game to claim their first win of the season.

Redlegs on-baller Kai Ivins was influential with 32 disposals, two goals and 10 inside-50s, while North’s Blake Amos finished with 30 disposals and 10 marks.

South Adelaide made it two wins on the trot with a rugged seven-point victory over West Adelaide at Magain Stadium.

In a game where scoring was hard to come by for both clubs, South were able to sneak over the line by kicking the only two goals of the last quarter.

South midfielder Jayce Potter had the ball on a string and finished with 39 disposals and 12 marks.

West’s Laurence Andriani was a force at stoppages, winning 15 clearances from his 39 disposals and also laying nine tackles.

Central District held on to defeat Woodville-West Torrens by six points in a close encounter at X Convenience Oval.

Eager to notch their first win of the season, the Bulldogs led at every change, but never by a significant margin as the Eagles stayed in the fight.

However, four goals to dangerous Central forward Anthony Klitogiannis proved the difference in the game.

Bulldogs ruckman Hugo Semmler was outstanding across the ground, winning 25 hit-outs while also managing a game-high 22 disposals, eight marks and a goal.
