Round 15 SANFL U16 Match Wraps

Woodville-West Torrens ended Sturt’s eight-game winning streak by defeating the ladder-leaders by 48 points at Thebarton Oval in Round 15 of the SANFL U16s.

The Eagles opened up an early lead and refused to take their foot off the pedal, with ruckman Jack Marks having a day to remember.

Marks kicked two goals in the opening term and finished with a bag of four to complement his 30 disposals, 22 hitouts and nine marks.

Eagle midfielder Tate Wolthers accumulated 32 disposals and nine clearances, both game-highs, while Sturt’s Austin Huxtable gathered 27 disposals.

A spirited fourth-quarter comeback saw Norwood defeat Glenelg by five points at The Parade.

The Tigers went into each break narrowly ahead on the scoreboard and led by eight points going into the final term.

However, eager to gain reward for their strong recent form, Norwood recaptured the lead late in the piece and secured its second win of the season.

Redlegs ruckman Michael Owen won 35 hitouts, Blake Jones was impressive with 28 disposals and a goal, while Joseph Nak managed 18 disposals and kicked two majors, including the game-winner.

Central District came from behind to defeat North Adelaide by two points in a thrilling finish at Prospect Oval.

The Roosters jumped out of the blocks to lead by as many as 31 points early in the contest, before the Bulldogs set about clawing back the margin.

Livewire forward Jermanine Miller put Central in front for the first time at the 13th minute mark of the last term, and the home side held on as the seconds ticked down to secure a vital win.

Miller provided a spark around the football and finished with 18 disposals and two goals, while teammate William Cameron accumulated 19 disposals, eight inside-50s and two goals of his own.

South Adelaide made light work of West Adelaide, defeating the Bloods by 76 points at Hisense Stadium.

Looking to bounce back following their heartbreaking loss to North Adelaide last round, the Panthers ensured this contest wouldn’t be so close by dominating from start to finish.

Led by their prolific midfield brigade, the Panthers took 40 more marks and had 46 more disposals than West, forcing the Bloods onto the back foot for much of the day.

Panther Kodah Edwards continued his fine season by gathering 26 disposals and three goals, while Ryan McAulay (28 disposals and a goal) was the best of the Bloods.
