Central District started its season in fine form with a comfortable 26-point win against Woodville-West Torrens at X Convenience Oval.

The Bulldogs led at every change after booting three majors without a miss in the opening term, before finishing strongly to kick 3.2 to the Eagles’ 1.0 in the fourth quarter.

Lauren and Shelby Smith, the latter in her first game as captain, racked up 33 disposals between them while former skipper Nicola Biagi was also prominent with 16 possessions and an enthusiastic celebration following her major in the final term.

2020 Eagles Club Champion Jovanka Zecevic led the way for her side with 18 disposals and a goal while new captain Annie Falkenberg started strongly in her new role to tally 17 possessions and five tackles.

A commanding second stanza set up North Adelaide’s 21-point win against South Adelaide at Coopers Stadium on Friday night.

Undefeated en route to an inaugural premiership last season, the Roosters began in ominous fashion when they slammed on 3.2 to the Panthers’ 1.0 in the second quarter.

North forward Kelly Barltrop, SANFLW Leading Goal kicker in 2019, booted two of her team’s three goals in the defining period while talented recruit Tayla Gordon added another.

South’s Nicole Campbell snapped a nice left-footed major from the pocket for the Panthers’ sole goal of the game, featured in the clip below.

Powerade Breakthrough Player Award winner Hannah Ewings led North’s disposal column with 22 while Lauren Daniel, Talia Radan and Erin Sundstrom each had 17.

Renee Moon was South’s best ball-winner with 23 and five clearances while exciting teenager Gypsy Schirmer had 21 touches and nine tackles.

Glenelg burst out of the blocks to overwhelm Sturt by 32 points at X Covenience Oval on Saturday.

The Bays booted the first five goals of the match before Kate Harris kicked the Double Blues’ opening major with less than two minutes to play in the second term.

Another 3.2 for Glenelg to Sturt’s 2.2 was enough to secure the premiership points as former skipper Chelsea Packer led the way for the Tigers with three goals.

Ex-Sturt captain Caitlyn Swanson added another two in her first game for Glenelg while Sam Franson and new captain Ellie Kellock found plenty of the ball.

Sturt’s Isobel Kuiper collected 18 disposals and four clearances while Georgia Swan had some luck with this soccer off the ground in the third quarter, featured in the clip below.

West Adelaide earned a hard-fought 14-point win against Norwood at Coopers Stadium on Friday night.

Seeking to repeat their Preliminary Final win against the Redlegs’ last year, the Bloods managed to hold the hosts at bay by booting a goal in each quarter.

Lauren Young was a dominant force for Mark Moody’s charges with 23 disposals and seven tackles while Crows-listed Ailish Considine had 18 and a goal.

New West captain Bec Owen made her first game in charge more memorable by kicking the sealer with a nice checkside in the pocket, featured in the clip below.

Norwood leadership group member Elisha Gallagher had 16 possessions while vice-captain Sophie Armitstead registered 14 to go with her five tackles and six clearances.
