The Plympton Football Club has been named as the winner of the 2022 National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors Club of the Year Award.

Introduced in 2021, the award recognises excellence in club governance, development and behaviour through a points system, with the overall winner exceeding expectations in all three categories.

The Bulldogs finished with a total of 1077 points to edge out second-placed Fitzroy Football Club on 1057 while last year’s winner – Goodwood Saints – rounded out the top three on 1049.

Boasting a strong retention rate from last year of 74 per cent, Plympton had a total of 404 junior players registered this season.

‘’We congratulate Plympton Football Club on being a deserving winner of the National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors Club of the Year Award,’’ SANFL Juniors Manager Oliver Graham said.

‘’Their performance highlights a very strong governance model, as well as a dedicated group of volunteers committed to driving development within the club.

‘’The SANFL Juniors Competition Management team would like to not only congratulate Plympton Football Club but express its sincerest appreciation to all SANFL Juniors clubs for their hard work and dedication in season 2022.

Plympton Bulldogs Junior Director Jamie Morgan said the club was thrilled to be acknowledged with the Club of the Year Award.

‘’We are really thrilled, it is great reward for effort for all of our volunteers,’’ Mr Morgan said.

‘’We like to think we are our own small community. People come here to not only be the best footballer, but the best person they can be.

‘’They really bring themselves and their family into our community which allows them to enjoy their time on and off the field, while feeling a real connection to the club.’’
