Norwood’s Tesharna Maher initially had her sights set on a career playing the round-ball game.

That was until her Mum, one of South Australian footy’s female trailblazers in Bronwyn Davey, suggested she give Aussie Rules a try.

Since making the switch, Maher hasn’t looked back as she approaches her 50th Hostplus SANFLW League match in Sunday’s Preliminary Final at X Convenience Oval.

Having watched Bronwyn line up locally in the SAWFL and for inaugural AFLW club Melbourne, Maher receives regular feedback and advice from her Mum before every outing.

And the 21-year-old considers herself very fortunate to have played alongside her Mum at her inaugural SANFLW club of Woodville-West Torrens.

A move to Norwood eventuated for the start of the 2021 campaign, with the Redlegs’ No.14 loving her time at The Parade.

Now the dynamic utility is poised to do everything in her power to ensure her milestone match is a memorable one against the Bulldogs from 12pm.
