Central District co-captain Kyle Presbury says his 149th Hostplus SANFL League game has been his most memorable since beginning his senior career in 2015.
And on Sunday, just seven days after experiencing a massive high after the club’s remarkable Qualifying Final win against Sturt, the 27-year-old is hungry for history to repeat.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, Presbury said the Bulldogs’ stunning comeback was the highlight in his 10th season at Elizabeth, providing his team with genuine momentum.
The skipper, who shares the mantle with veteran Jarrod Schiller, says his side has built enormous belief in the past month as it prepares for Sunday’s Second Semi-Final against Norwood at Adelaide Oval.
Under coach Paul Thomas, who Presbury played alongside in his first senior season, the Bulldogs have rediscovered their September spark as they chase their first Grand Final berth since 2011.
Presbury paid tribute to Thomas, who has now steered his men into their second consecutive finals series while using the club’s blue-collar work ethic as a prime catalyst.
The Eastern Park product, who is relishing the first season of his leadership role, is also gaining plenty of advice daily outside of the club, working as an apprentice carpenter for Central premiership greats Chris and James Gowans.
Like he did last Sunday, Presbury will be hoping to give the South Australian Football Hall of Fame members plenty to celebrate on the hill, underneath the scoreboard, against the Redlegs.
