There’s a golden rule in football not to organise a wedding during the football season.

And it is for this reason Kate Harris won’t play her first 50 SANFLW League games in succession as she approaches her milestone match against the Eagles in Round 6.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the well-spoken 30-year-old revealed the only two matches she has missed since making her debut in Round 1 of 2019 have been for her own wedding last year and her best friend’s a fortnight ago.

After thriving in the sport of rowing, Harris didn’t begin playing football until 2018, when she lined up with Old Ignations.

A two-week pre-season with the Double Blues was all the tough midfielder had to prepare for her debut, in which she understandably admitted to not knowing many of her teammates’ names.

Now the No.23 is a fixture in the side at Unley, earning high respect from her teammates as their trusted vice-captain in the centre square.

Off the field, Harris is a commercial lawyer with ACH Group something which provides her with great perspective outside of football as she seeks to extend her SANFLW career for as long as possible.
