It’s hard to believe Woodville-West Torrens premiership midfielder Joseph Sinor nearly moved on from his SANFL dream at the end of 2016.

Despite dearly loving the Eagles, Sinor had plugged away to register 60 Reserves games while only managing a handful at League level.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 28-year-old is extremely thankful he rethought his decision to play in the country in 2017 whilst accepting a new challenge from then Eagles coach Michael Godden.

Playing 20 League games in 2017, Sinor enjoyed a breakthrough season as a dashing defender off half-back en route to winning that year’s Powerade Breakthrough Player Award.

Since then, the man known as Joey has gone on to be an extremely valuable midfield cog in the club’s back-to-back premierships of 2020 and 2021, winning the Eagles’ best-and-fairest in 2020.

Making his League debut in a barnstorming win against North Adelaide in 2014, Sinor also cherishes his opportunity to represent the West End State team in Perth this year as SANFL defeated the WAFL at Optus Stadium.

Outside of footy, he loves working as an electrician alongside his mates and older brother Patrick, who he may link up with again on the field at their original club – Henley FC.

But for now, the Eagles’ No.35 will be desperate to help his side atone for last round’s shock loss to Central with a win against West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium on Saturday.
