Five South Australians have been selected in the 2024 AFL U16 All-Australian team after this year’s National Championships campaign.
Headlined by Kevin Sheehan Medallist Dougie Cochrane, the Croweaters’ contingent was rewarded for its consistent campaign which ended with a nail-biting, extra-time loss to Victoria Country in Game 3.
Cochrane, the son of former Port Adelaide and North Melbourne utility Stuart Cochrane, was named at centre half-back after also taking home the award as South Australia’s MVP.
He was joined across half-back by fellow SA U16 vice-captain and Bulldog Jack Gordon while North Adelaide’s Ethan Herbert nailed his place in the ruck.
South Adelaide pair Archie Van Dyk (centre) and Angus White (half-forward flank) were also fittingly rewarded after contributing strongly across SA’s three matches.
Coached by Heath Younie for the first time in 2024, the Croweaters finished with a 2-1 win-loss record having defeated Western Australia and Victoria Metro before succumbing to Victoria Country by one point.
