Central District midfielder Dyson Sharp continues to add to his bulging trophy cabinet after claiming the 2023 SANFL U16 Best and Fairest Medal.
After claiming SA’s MVP Award and the Kevin Sheehan Medal at the AFL National Championships earlier this year, the strongly-built 16-year-old polled 27 votes to finish ahead of South Adelaide’s Cameron Woods on 23 and North Adelaide’s Charlie Dickeson on 22.
Averaging an eye-catching 38 disposals, 10 marks, five tackles and six clearances in his 11 outings, Sharp attracted seven first preference including a hot streak of five in succession from Rounds 6 to 10.
Recruited from the Barossa District Football Club, Sharp also played two Torrens University SANFL U18 matches late in the season such was his dominance.
North Adelaide’s Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier placed fourth with 19 votes while Sturt’s Jackson Moody rounded out the top five on 17.
It is the second year the SANFL U16 Best and Fairest Medal has been awarded, with South Adelaide’s Benny Barrett winning the inaugural prize last year.
