Former Adelaide and Port Adelaide AFLW player Ange Foley will take the reins as Sturt’s SANFLW senior coach for the 2026 season.
Foley, who is a dual premiership player with the Crows, brings a wealth of experience to the role, both on and off the field.
Foley explained what drew her to Sturt, is that she has been around the club for a couple of years now, both as a player and a supporter.
“I played one game in my return to AFLW after an ACL repair… as a supporter, the people at the club just made me feel so welcome,” Foley said.
“The people not just inside the walls, including staff and players, but also the fans and the community – I was keen to be a part of such a united team culture.”
Foley, who is a teacher by trade, has coached for over 10 years, however, primarily in school settings.
“When I saw this opportunity, I thought I would throw my hat in the ring, given I have just retired from footy,” Foleys said.
“I wanted to stay connected in football circles. I have so much passion for the game and so much to give back to a game that has given so much to me.”

Sturt’s SANFLW side finished fourth on the ladder this year and have made one grand final appearance in its seven years in the league.
Foley says her coaching style in leading the club’s SANFLW team to ultimately win an inaugural premiership will still have a key focus on learning and player development.
“I guess this comes naturally to me as a teacher,” Foley said.
“I like to build relationships with all players and use this to get the best out of them in every situation, both on and off the field.
“Enjoyment is also a big part of the reason I am involved in sport, I believe if you are not enjoying coming to work/football, then there is something wrong.
“I try to ensure that each session there are elements of enjoyment. I love seeing my players smile and laugh but also know when it’s time to get to work.”
