Norwood captain Ali Ferrall could be forgiven for having a single-minded focus on earning a premiership medallion in the twilight of her SANFLW career.

Instead, the 33-year-old places equal importance on being the best leader she can be as she nurtures through the next generation of talented footballers at The Parade.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the Redlegs skipper is excited about what the future holds for Norwood even though it might mean she doesn’t get the fairytale ending her career deserves.

Last year’s winner of the SA Power Networks SANFLW Leadership Award, Ferrall missed playing in premierships with Mortphettville Park (SAWFL), and with the Legs in the inaugural season of 2017, due to injury.

And while this certainly burns in driving Ferrall in 2023, it certainly isn’t the only reason why she has enthusiastically held the mantle as captain for the Redlegs since the start of the 2020 season.

Having overcome a quad ailment which forced her out of the team for Round 2, Ferrall is keen to help her side convert their three opening losses – by less than a goal – into victories to ensure it can return to the major round.
