A host of AFLW stars are poised to light up the 2023 Hostplus SANFLW League season after being released by Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

SANFLW fans will be treated to talented players such as Port Adelaide pair Hannah Ewings and Abbey Dowrick while Crows duo Hannah Button and Jess Waterhouse will also lace up the boots at various stages next year.

Ewings and Dowrick enjoyed a sensational start to their AFL careers, placing top two in the AFLW Rising Star Award while Button (nee Martin) will be a huge boost for the Bloods given she won the 2018 SANFLW best-and-fairest title.

Power leadership group member and former Suns skipper Hannah Dunn will make a welcome return to Norwood, together with 2022 Advertiser SANFLW Team of the Year members Jade Halfpenny and Sachi Syme.

AFLW players listed below will be released for varying periods of next year’s SANFLW season, pending their AFLW club commitments and injury status.

Following Port Adelaide’s entry into the AFLW competition, a number of its new signings and draftees have been allocated SANFLW clubs – headlined by experienced former Docker Gemma Houghton’s alignment with West Adelaide.

The Cockatoo-Motlop twins – Laqouiya and Litonya – will don the navy blue of South Adelaide when not required by the Power.

The 2023 Hostplus SANFLW League fixture is expected to be released before Christmas.
