Salisbury North Football Club Junior Sports Director Beau Green is a very busy man.
A hands-on volunteer who is extremely involved in all aspects of the Salisbury North Football Club, Beau spends his Saturdays with the senior sides, helping set up and pack up, recording statistics, and just generally doing whatever is asked of him.
On Sundays, he then spends his day supporting Salisbury North’s junior footballers – setting up and cooking the BBQ in the morning and then operating the scoreboard for the remainder of the day.
“I work with a great bloke who’s been volunteering at the club for over 20 years and has served on the board for 15 of those,” Beau said.
“Eventually, I was invited to a senior football presentation night, and from the moment I walked through the doors, I was hooked.
“Not long after, I was asked to join the Board of Directors as the Junior Sports Director, which felt like the perfect space for me to contribute.
“Originally, I came on board to help with sponsorship, but I quickly found myself drawn to the junior side of things.
“I absolutely loved it from the start; seeing the kids, the families and the community come together around footy was incredibly rewarding. From that moment on, I was head over heels for the role, and I’ve remained a proud volunteer ever since.”
The magnitude of Beau’s work with Salisbury North is truly impressive.
He oversees all junior sports programs within the club, ensuring the smooth running of weekly matches, training and development pathways.

Along with this, Beau is involved with committee coordination, administration, financial management, community engagement, senior football and coaching.
“It’s deeply fulfilling to know we’re supporting families and the wider community,” Beau said.
“Salisbury North isn’t just a football club – we’ve got netball, cricket, an over-50s club, bingo nights and so many other community activities.
“It’s amazing to see all these different dynamics come together.”
Beau added that there have been many highlights throughout his time at Salisbury North, including growing the junior program.
“Salisbury North is a not-for-profit and knowing that we can help a kid who turns up with barely anything, get a uniform and have their fees covered for the year – that’s what it’s all about,” Beau said.
“Supporting families who are doing it tough and making sure football is accessible to everyone is one of the meaningful parts of what I do.”
Beau is one of eight finalists for the 2025 SANFL Volunteer of the Year Award, with the winner to be announced at the annual SANFL Community Volunteers Awards Night at Adelaide Oval on Friday, 31 October.
