South Australia’s exciting talent will have its opportunity to shine when the SA U20 team tackles the SA U18 team at The Parade on Saturday.
Starting at 2.30pm, the annual SA Talent Clash will serve as an important tune up to the AFL National Championships for the SA U18 team while SA’s U20 players will also be afforded a valuable opportunity to shine in front of AFL recruiting staff.
Coached by Tony Bamford, the SA U18 team will have as many as 29 players rotate through as it looks to fine tune before the opening clash of the Marsh AFL National Championships on June 1.
Ones to watch include newly-named leaders Dyson Sharp and Sam Cumming through the midfield and Jack Cook, who has played well as a half-back distributor for the Eagles in 2025.
Athletic utilities Matt LeRay and Harley Barker will also be keen to impress after recently lining up for the AFL Academy team in Melbourne.
SA is expected to be without Central District forward Dougie Cochrane (hamstring), Woodville-West Torrens utility Jevan Phillipou (broken arm) and Sturt key defender Blake Thredgold (broken hand) for most of the Championships campaign.
The SA U20 team will include several young stars of the Hostplus SANFL League, including South Adelaide midfielder Phoenix Hargrave, Woodville-West Torrens wing Kade Herbert and first-year pair Jacob Newton (Norwood) and Jett Hasting (Eagles), who have both been hitting the scoreboard in 2025.
Exciting tall prospect Harry Ramm (Glenelg) will start at centre half-back while strong-marking pair Noah Howes (South) and Tallan Rosenzweig (Central) will be the key focal points in attack for the SA U20 team, to be coached by Norwood reserves premiership coach Aaron Jelfs.
The match will be live streamed on The Advertiser’s KommunityTV
