Exciting prospects Esther Schirmer and Emily Mableson have been crowned South Australia’s MVPs after outstanding performances at the 2024 AFL National Girls Championships.
U18 MVP Schirmer, who also took home the Best Player Award for her team-orientated effort against Victoria Metro in Game 2, displayed her ability to rebound from defence while locking down on her opponents throughout the U18 tournament.
SA U16 MVP Mableson, who was the Croweaters’ strongest performer in Game 1 against Victoria Metro, proved her prowess as a skilful user of the ball while also earning a spot in the U16 All-Australian team.
Croweaters’ joint vice-captain Charlotte Riggs was rewarded for her outstanding U18 campaign by earning the respect of her coaches and teammates with the Ashleigh Young Players’ Player trophy while key defender Lucy Boyd won the Coaches Trophy.
