Fourteen SANFL players have been invited to attend the South Australian NAB AFL State Draft Combine on Saturday October 15.

The list is headlined by mature-aged prospects, with six attendees having already represented their clubs at SANFL League level this season.

Central District defender Rhett Montgomerie currently sits equal-second in the Hostplus SANFL League for marks and equal-third for contested marks, whilst also averaging 14.6 disposals at a handy 79% efficiency.

North Adelaide livewire Frank Szekely has thrived in a new role allowing him to roam higher up the ground, averaging a career-high 19.3 disposals at 88% efficiency whilst booting 13 goals in 16 League games.

Szekely, 22, starred for the Roosters in their round 13 victory over Port Adelaide, booting two goals and accumulating 26 disposals, 10 marks and seven inside-50s.

Sturt’s Tom Emmett made his League debut in Round six and has since looked at home in the Double Blues’ forward-line, booting at least one goal in seven-straight matches.

Norwood goalsneak Baynen Lowe, 19, has played an important role in the Redlegs’ strong run of form, booting 18 goals in 13 matches, including two bags of four against Central and Port.

Recently making their League debut, West Adelaide ruckman Oscar Steene and ball-magnet Kobe Ryan are among four Bloods to receive an invite, alongside defender Oscar Kregar and ruckman Darcy Minchella.

Glenelg will be represented by three junior prospects in running machine Lachlan Scannell and on-ballers Jake Walker and Archie Lovelock.

Also included among the invite list are other Torrens University SA U18 squad members Shaun Bennier (North Adelaide), Kyle Marshall (South Adelaide) and Brodie Tuck (Central District).

Players invited to the NAB AFL State Draft Combine received two nominations from AFL clubs.

The SA State Combine will be held from 10am at the University of South Australia’s Mawson Lakes campus, where players will have their physical dimensions measured before undertaking 20m sprint, agility and jump tests.

This will be followed by the 2km time trial at Salisbury’s Bridgestone Athletics Centre.
