Vale Christopher Leahy OAM

SANFL is saddened by the recent passing of South Australian Community Football League Life Member Christopher Leahy OAM.

A tireless volunteer and advocate for community football in Adelaide’s south for more than four decades, Christopher forged a reputation as an innovator and leader of the community who was held in the highest of esteem.

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his services to Australian Football in 2011, he received his SA Community Football Life Membership in the same year having previously being acknowledged with a SANFL Merit Award in 2001 and SANFL Service Award in 2004.

Beginning his administrative service with the Port Noarlunga Football Club in 1970, Christopher devoted himself to the Southern Football League across numerous roles, including President from 1986 to 2005.

SANFL extends its deepest sympathy to the Leahy family as it honours Christopher’s outstanding service to the game in South Australia.
