The Wudinna United Football & Netball Club and the Central Eyre Football Club will merge prior to the upcoming 2021 season.
The two clubs, who are both affiliated with the Mid West Football and Netball Leagues on the Eyre Peninsula, have advised SANFL of their decision to unite.
Both clubs have the support of their members, with special meetings held at the clubs last week for a vote on the merger.
SANFL Head of Community Football Lisa Faraci said SANFL and Netball SA would work closely with the new club, as well as the Mid West Football League, Mid West Netball Association and the Western Zone Committee to ensure a successful outcome for football and netball in the region.
“Ultimately we are here to support leagues and clubs on the Eyre Peninsula through this transition to ensure football remains viable and everyone has the opportunity to play,” Ms Faraci said.
The Western Zone currently comprises five leagues and 26 clubs, with six clubs competing in the Mid West Football League.
