Inclusive State Team Trials land in Mount Gambier

By ZAC MILBANK

SANFL’s search for the best footballers with an intellectual disability will extend to Mount Gambier for the first time, with a trial session to be held on Wednesday March 13.

With South Australia set to compete in the 2019 AFL National Inclusion Carnival in July, Croweaters coach Don Miranda is eager to capture the best regional players to wear the cherished red guernsey against the Big V and other interstate rivals.

”The South Australian team should be representative of the whole State, not just the metro area,” Miranda said.

”We are really keen to see if we can find some players to reward with this wonderful opportunity.”

From 5.30pm until 7pm, the trial will take place at the Reidy Park Primary School Oval in Mount Gambier on Wednesday March 13.

After qualifying for the Grand Final at the 2018 AFL National Inclusion Carnival, SA will be aiming to go one better under the guidance of Miranda in Blacktown, NSW from July 15 to 20.

The AFL National Inclusion Carnival provides people with an intellectual disability with the opportunity to represent their State or Territory while also showcasing their skills and passion to the wider community.
