Athelstone will be aiming to complete the perfect season when it tackles Kilburn in the 2024 APM SANFL Inclusive League Grand Final on Saturday.

Set to be played at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval at 4.45pm, the highly-anticipated title-decider will follow the Round 19 Hostplus SANFL League clash between Woodville-West Torrens and Norwood.

Not only are the Raggies chasing their first APM SANFL Inclusive League flag, they are also focused on remaining undefeated after progressing directly through to the Grand Final on the back of a flawless 12-0 win-loss record across the minor round.

”We have told the boys it is a privilege to have pressure,” Athelstone coach Zac Del Medico said.

”We will use it at motivation and for belief to get over the line. It would be an absolute honour to bring the flag home to Raggie land!

” The week leading up to the Grand Final has been exciting, we’ve told the boys to enjoy the moment and be proud of what they have achieved to be in the position they are in.”

Kilburn, finishing second on the ladder after the minor round with a 9-3 win-loss record, fell 24 points short of upsetting Athelstone in the Second Semi Final.

But the Chics, chasing their first crown since 2016, responded in encouraging fashion with a 20-point triumph against reigning premier Kenilworth in the Preliminary Final.

”It has been a good season for us at Kilburn,” Kilburn coach Nick Warne said.

”The boys have grown in confidence as the season has progressed, especially after beating last year’s premiers in the Prelim (Final).

”It needs to be a complete team effort. No passengers. Everybody has their own strengths.

”Anybody is beatable and the boys aren’t afraid of Athelstone’s undefeated record. Knowing they haven’t been beaten all season only fuels our determination to be the team that breaks that streak.”

Entry to the match will be free after half-time of the Hostplus SANFL League match but for those unable to get to the ground, it will be available to watch live and free via SANFL Now.
