A powerful performance from Norwood ruckman Harry Boyd propelled his team to a 42-point win against Central District at The Parade.

The 2022 Jack Oatey Medallist dominated from the outset in the muddy conditions, fittingly earning the Coles Value Player as best afield.

Racking up a massive 48 hit outs and 18 clearances – the most in the SANFL this season – Boyd also worked hard around the ground to collect a match-high 30 disposals as he stamped himself as the best ruckman in the competition.

To top it off, the 26-year-old produced a classy goal assist when he tapped the ball directly into the path of Jayden Gale, who kicked the final goal of the game.

”It was a really good day,” Boyd said when talking to Channel 7 after the match.

”We have been going about it week-to-week, it’s been a good block of games for us.

”I’m not the quickest player and it (muddy conditions) leaves the ball in my area so I really enjoyed it today.”

In strengthening its hold on top spot of the ladder, Norwood led at every change as it wasn’t troubled by the Bulldogs, who were forced to call upon Zac Buechner to play two games in succession after Dayne Posthuma was hurt in the warm up.

The Redlegs finished with 53 inside 50s to 29 and 52 clearances to 26 as key forwards Jackson Callow and Finn Heard kicked three goals each while providing plenty of targets.

”I’ve been working hard at it so it’s nice to finally get some reward,” Finn Heard said after the match.

”We pride ourselves on the first give which brings everyone into the play which is good. We’ve been putting good wins on the board so it’s all very positive.”

Legs captain Jacob Kennerley tallied 22 disposals while Matt Ling had 19 and Baynen Lowe 18 touches, eight clearances and a goal.

Central’s Billy Iles had the most disposals for his side with 20 while Harry Grant battled for 19 disposals and six clearances.

Adelaide withstood a serious challenge from North Adelaide to record a 38-point win at Prospect Oval.

Determined to honour 100-gamer Hugh Haysman, the Crows displayed great efficiency to reign supreme despite having 11 less inside 50s and six fewer clearances.

Keeping the Roosters without a goal in the first term, the visitors led by 16 points midway through the second stanza when Ned McHenry produced an unselfish handball to Harry Schoenberg who goaled from close range.

But this sparked the hosts into action as Nigel Lockyer junior nailed a tough set shot after the half-time siren to give his side a handy seven-point lead into the main break.

However, his team could only manage two more majors for the afternoon while Adelaide piled on 9.7 to comfortably record its fifth win of the season.

Adelaide captain Jack Madgen was superb in defence for 27 disposals and seven marks while Oscar Ryan collected 23 disposals and McHenry 22 with six marks.

Schoenberg (1.0) and Daniel Curtin (2.0) collected 20 disposals as each of them hit the scoreboard, together with Toby Murray (3.0) and Tyler Welsh (2.2).

North will be frustrated it missed a chance to draw level with fifth-placed Woodville-West Torrens on seven wins as Harrison Wigg racked up a team high 29 disposals and seven clearances.

Magarey Medallist Campbell Combe continued his outstanding form with 26 disposals, eight clearances, 14 tackles and a goal while Mitch Harvey booted three majors.

West Adelaide produced one of its most memorable wins under coach Adam Hartlett when it kept its finals chances alive with a 39-point win against Woodville-West Torrens at Hisense Stadium.

Trailing at the first change, the Bloods clicked into gear during the second quarter as they booted 4.1 to the Eagles’ 1.3 to earn a nine-point lead at half-time.

The Bloods then kicked the only three goals of the third quarter as they produced a stunning defensively display to keep the high-scoring Eagles to just five majors for the match.

It was a huge result for Hartlett and his side as they not only kept the fifth-placed Eagles on seven wins but earned their fifth to keep in touch for September action.

Impressive young midfielder Kobe Ryan was everywhere as he collected 34 disposals, five clearances, six marks and a goal to be West’s best for the afternoon.

Fellow midfielders Sam Frost (21 disposals, eight clearances) and Brady Searle (20 disposals, six clearances) were also huge influences in the result as Callum Park tallied 25 disposals and 10 marks off half-back.

Bigman Hamish Ellem kicked three majors, including a classy checkside finish on the run from the boundary while Jye Sinderberry, Isaac Johnson and Michael Laudato booted two goals each.

Eagles captain Joseph Sinor flew the flag for his team with 23 disposals, five clearances and six tackles while Dane McFarlane (21 disposals and a goal) and Riley Knight (19 disposals, five clearances, six tackles) were solid contributors.
