Checkside Chats – South Adelaide’s Senna Gulden

For someone who doesn’t enjoy tackling, South Adelaide’s Senna Gulden doesn’t show it.

Currently leading the Hostplus SANFLW League for total tackles (26) after two rounds, the tough inside midfielder is stopping her opponents in their tracks if she isn’t winning the ball herself.

A special guest on the second episode of Checkside Chats for 2023, the 21-year-old is loving her footy again with the Panthers, having relocated from Sydney earlier this year.

After featuring in four SANFLW games last year, Gulden was itching to test herself at the highest level possible outside the AFLW this season.

A key driver behind her team starting its campaign with a 2-0 win-loss record, Gulden is looking at injecting more run and carry into her game under the guidance of Rick Watts at Noarlunga.

The younger sister of former Panther Adam and emerging Sydney Swans star Errol, Gulden reveals how the siblings have each played a part in their footy success, together with the presence of their coaching Mum, Bronwyn.

SANFL Female Talent Coordinator Bek McMahon, after previewing the Hostplus SANFLW League in this year’s opening episode, rejoins Checkside Chats to review the opening two rounds before previewing Round 3’s top-of-the-table clash between South Adelaide and West Adelaide.

In her role as SA U16 girls coach, Bek also provides wonderful insight into the performances of younger players such as West’s Lucy Boyd and Ruby Ballard.
