SANFL Juniors, which starts with a modified rules game for under 8s and goes up to under 17.5s, is one of the largest metropolitan junior footy competitions in the nation and where most umpires in South Australia make their mark.
All SANFL Juniors matches are scheduled either a Friday night or Sunday from late April until September. If you’re just starting out, you’ll be allocated to the younger age groups at first until you gain enough skills, fitness and confidence to progress to older age groups.
Umpire training arrangements for Season 2023 are currently being finalised and will be updated in due course.
Depending on the age of the competition you are officiating for, match rates for field umpires can range between $45 and $116.
Umpires are expected to attend all scheduled weekly training & coaching sessions. Trainings are not held during public and school holidays.
Training sessions mainly include knowledge and skills components, with some fitness.
Once you’ve completed the Basic Umpiring Course, you will be provided with details on how to register as an Umpire.
You will also be on our newsletter list to receive further information.
The first step towards becoming a Field, Boundary or Goal Umpire is to get yourself enrolled into one of our free 2-hour Basic Umpiring Courses.
There are several scheduled throughout the year at various locations across metropolitan Adelaide.
